Alternate Replacement Examples

Example 1: A player who qualified at Site X subsequently withdraws from the championship. The 1st Alternate from Site X is contacted to fill that spot.

a) If the 1st Alternate from Site X accepts, no additional action is needed. The player who is the 2nd Alternate is now considered the highest ranked alternate from that site.

b) If the 1st Alternate from Site X declines, the 2nd Alternate is contacted to fill the spot. If that player accepts the spot, there are no additional alternates from Site X.

c) If both the 1st and 2nd Alternates from Site X decline, the spot is filled using the reallotment procedure outlined here.

Example 2: An exempt player withdraws from the championship following the close of entries. Site Y is currently the highest ranked site on the reallotment list at the time of the withdrawal.

a) The 1st Alternate from Site Y is contacted to fill the spot. If the 1st Alternate accepts, Site Y is moved to the bottom of the reallotment list and the player who is the 2nd Alternate is now considered the highest ranked alternate from that site.

b) If the 1st Alternate from Site X declines, the 2nd Alternate is contacted to fill the spot. If that player accepts the spot, Site Y is removed from the reallotment list as there are no alternates left from that site.

c) If both the 1st and 2nd Alternates from Site X decline, Site Y is removed from the reallotment list and the process is repeated using the next highest ranked site on the reallotment list.

Example 3: A player who qualified at Site Z subsequently becomes exempt.

a) The 1st Alternate from Site Z is contacted to fill that spot. If the 1st Alternate from Site Z accepts, no additional action is needed. The player who is the 2nd Alternate is now considered the highest ranked alternate from that site.

b) If the 1st Alternate from Site Z declines, the 2nd Alternate is contacted to fill the spot. If that player accepts the spot, there are no additional alternates from Site Z.

c) If both the 1st and 2nd Alternates from Site Z decline, the spot is filled using the reallotment procedure outlined here.
