How is the order of reallotment determined and managed?

The reallotment list is determined upon the conclusion of the final qualifier for each championship (see “What is reallotment?”). The list is determined by USGA Championship staff and managed by Championship Administration. Once determined, alternates will receive their initial spot on the list along with periodic updates from Championship Administration.

Example: These scenarios are for a championship with 16 qualifying sites. The reallotment list will then have 16 sites, ranked #1-16, with 2 alternates per site.

Scenario A: If a spot becomes available through reallotment, the 1st alternate from reallotment site #1 will be contacted. If the spot is accepted, that site will move to #16 on the reallotment list with the 2nd Alternate remaining on the list. The rest of the reallotment list would then shift up one spot (reallotment site #2 will become site #1, etc.).

Scenario B: If a spot becomes available through reallotment, the 1st alternate from reallotment site #1 will be contacted. If the spot is declined, the 2nd Alternate from reallotment site #1 will be contacted. If the spot is accepted, that site will be removed from the reallotment list. The rest of the reallotment list would then shift up one spot (reallotment site #2 will become site #1, etc.). If both alternates decline, that site will be removed from the reallotment list, and the USGA will repeat the process using the next site on the reallotment list.
