Qualifying for the U.S. Amateur is conducted in two stages – Local Qualifying and Final Qualifying. Those players who are not locally exempt or fully exempt must compete in local qualifying. Players meeting one or more of the local exemptions do not need to compete in local qualifying and are placed directly in final qualifying. Players who are fully exempt are placed directly into the championship field.
